We are celebrating our October Fifth Thursday social event with a chili cook-off! We have invited the Noon Club to join us as well.
Here are the details:
Thursday, October 29 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
North Stonegate Community Center 9540 Stonegate Parkway Parker, CO 80134
Family and guests are welcome
The club will provide sample cups, spoons, napkins, water, crackers/cornbread and desserts

Chili makers, please bring enough chili for everyone to sample. Kelly will be able to let you know the number of attendees one week before the event.
There is a $25 entry fee if you wish to participate in the cook-off. Please send your entrance fee to Dan O'Neill, the club Treasurer, either by check or by Zelle. Be sure to note Chili in the memo field.
Click here to register yourself and family/friends to attend, and/or to enter a pot of chili.
Ced Woodard challenges us to become heroes by making a blood donation. You can be a hero any time, but let's focus on the time between now and Halloween. Click here to make an appointment to donate blood with Vitalant -- they have a convenient permanent donation site right here in Parker. Let's see if any of us can match Lew Million's lifetime blood donations of 8 gallons!
If you aren't able to donate blood yourself, you can also become a hero by signing up a friend or family member to donate blood.
Heroes will be named at the club social on October 29. Just let Ced know that you have donated blood or made an appointment to donate blood or gotten someone else to donate blood!
Member Scott Dishong invites us to help the kids who are receiving a wish from the Make a Wish Foundation. There is a claw machine at their offices where kids who are there to discuss their wish have the chance to choose a toy from the machine. This small gift helps the kids feel more comfortable in that potentially overwhelming environment. We get to help fill the machine with toys for kids of all ages. Need ideas? Check out the photo above or search claw machine toys online. The only criteria is that the claw in this machine is not huge, so the toys have to be from 3"-6" wide.
Bring your contributions to a Rotary meeting on October 22 or the social October 29. Let's fill the claw machine to overflowing!
Hey, Rotarians, there are many ways you can contribute in our community in the next couple of months.

Thank you to Greg Howell for stepping in at the last minute to lead us in an inspiring program inviting us to consider our elevator pitches – how we would tell someone about Rotary and invite them to take part. And thank you to our brave volunteers John Huffaker, Kelly Young and Tim O'Connor for showing us how to get it done! As Greg pointed out, as we think about our elevator pitch, be sure that our ask is obvious.
In addition to the upcoming Chili Cook-off on October 29, put these two dates on your social calendars:
On Thursday, November 19 we will not have a morning meeting. Instead, we will welcome our Rotary District Governor Cindy Chase to a social event that evening at Takoda Tavern. Stay tuned for more details and to RSVP
On Friday, December 4 we will celebrate our Holiday Party at Black Bear Golf Club in Parker. Stay tuned for more details and to RSVP
Let's celebrate the fellowship that Rotary offers!
One of the community organizations with which the Rotary Club of Parker has the longest relationship is the Parker Task Force. We participate regularly in their food drives, typically stationed at the Stroh Ranch King Soopers. From there we constantly see the generosity of the Parker community. Here are the results from our station at the most recent food drive on October 10:
70 boxes of items
$530 in cash/gift cards
The star donation item in October was 72 packages of chicken!
Pat Greaser, the head of the Task Force, also thanked the club for stepping up to fill in at an additional location when a group had to drop out at the last minute.
When everyone pitches in our community is a beautiful place.
Thank you to the Rotarians, families and friends who helped with the Mobile Pack for Feed My Starving Children from October 2-3. We joined volunteers from all sorts of community groups from around Parker to pack a total of 101,000 meals over the weekend. Way to demonstrate Service Above Self!
