In the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela last week, ShelterBox is seeking donations to support their response to those impacted. The need is urgent.Hundreds of thousands are believed to be displaced. ShelterBox is preparing to send pre-positioned supplies such as tents, shelter kits, cooking kits, blankets, mosquito nets, and other basic supplies to those in need.
The club is responding with a $1500 donation to ShelterBox from the budget of the International Committee. The Rotary Club of Parker has a long history of supporting the work of ShelterBox.
If you would also like to make a personal donation, you can do so in one of two ways:
Send your check made out to Rotary Club of Parker Foundation to PO Box 1472, Parker, CO 80134. Make sure to note in the memo section of the check that this is for ShelterBox Venezuela.
Alternately (and most expeditiously), make a Zelle transfer to foundation@parkerrotary.org, again noting that this is for ShelterBox Venezuela.
A club member has generously offered to match one for one all contributions made by club members up to a total of $5000. That match opportunity is good for all contributions made through July 16.

Here's a quick, short-term service project you may be able to help with. Come to O'Brien Park on Tuesday morning, July 14 at 8:00 a.m. to help clean up plant debris from around the gazebo. (Did you know that the gazebo was a gift from our club to the Town in 2004 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International?)
Wear gardening gloves. Some other tools that may be helpful are rakes, brooms and hand clippers. Trash bags will be provided.
We once again thank the Parker community for your generous support of the food drive for the Parker Task Force on June 6. This man donated the entire cart of groceries! The Rotary Club of Parker was stationed at the Stroh Ranch King Soopers, where we collected
67 boxes of food
$697 in cash and gift cards
41 pounds of chicken and 35 pounds of ground beef
67 pounds of butter and 63 packages of sliced cheese
The Rotary Club of Parker had the fun of supporting our community by staffing one of the beverage tents at Parker Days. We were right by one of the stages and could dance along to the music!
One of the projects we have worked on over the past year is installing solar lights around the Affinity Ranch property. Affinity Ranch is an equestrian therapy ranch just east of Parker. The final lamppost went in on June 26! Many thanks to THIS crew and to all the other crews that made these improvements.
We are grateful for the people who have served the Rotary Club of Parker over the past Rotary year! Their service has made the club run and enabled us to serve the greater community.

First, we thank our outgoing president John Huffaker. John has led us with wisdom and humor – we will miss the jokes with which he kept the meetings lively. John has been a leader in modeling Service Above Self.

Congratulations to Sue Garwood, the Rotarian of the Year for the Rotary Club of Parker! Sue served the club and community in countless ways this past year, but two highlights are her leadership as Membership chair and her dedicated efforts in making the Hoedown fundraiser a success.
